Andrew Balding saddled ZANETTO to win the 13 runner £100,000 Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O Sprint at Newmarket’s Rowley Mile Racecourse today, the fifth race of the 2012/13 Tattersalls Millions series.

The son of Medicean was bought by Andrew Balding for just 40,000 guineas from the 2011 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale Book 1 from Paul and Sarah Thorman’s Trickledown Stud and has given his owners Mick and Janice Mariscotti a good return on their investment, picking up just under £100,000 in prize money so far. This was the second Tattersalls Millions race that ZANETTO has run in, previously finishing second in the £100,000 Tattersalls Millions Median Auction Trophy in September last year.

After the race Andrew Balding commented, “It was always the plan to come to this race with ZANETTO and I am thrilled for the owners who have always been very loyal to me in my training career. It’s also a good prize for Liam to pick up. I’d like to target the Listed race at Ascot over 6 furlongs next. It is great to buy a horse for 40,000gns at Book 1 and come and win a sales race like this. We have Havana Beat in the £200,000 Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O Trophy tomorrow, who is another nice colt - a winner today takes off a bit of the pressure!”

The only Irish runner in the field, CLANCY AVENUE was second for Tommy Stack, with GRAPHIC GUEST for Mick Channon in third.

There is one last race in the 2012/13 Tattersalls Millions sales race series, the £200,000 Tattersalls Millions 3-Y-O Trophy, which takes place tomorrow
