Artic Cosmos storms clear

Tattersalls October yearlings produced an outstanding Classic double landing both the English and Irish St Legers in the space of 25 memorable minutes.

First to strike was ARCTIC COSMOS who landed a competitive renewal of the St Leger at Doncaster's Town Moor to give trainer John Gosden his third winner of the world's oldest Classic. Purchased by Blandford Bloodstock for 47,000 guineas at Book 2 of the 2008 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, ARCTIC COSMOS is owned in partnership by Gosden's wife Rachel Hood and businessman Robin Geffen. The three year old colt is by Derby winner NORTH LIGHT out of the MARQUETRY mare FIFTH AVENUE DOLL and was consigned to the sale from Pier House Stud.

Across the Irish Sea the four year old colt SANS FRONTIERES produced an equally impressive display to land the Irish St Leger for owner Sir Robert Ogden and trainer Jeremy Noseda. By GALILEO out of the SHIRLEY HEIGHTS mare LLIA, SANS FRONTIERES was purchased at Book 1 of the 2007 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by John Warren for 450,000 guineas and now looks set for a tilt at the Melbourne Cup in November.

Bred and consigned by Lavington Stud, SANS FRONTIERES is one of six winners out of LLIA and his CAPE CROSS half brother is lot 380 at Book 1 of the forthcoming Tattersalls October Yearling Sale which takes place October 5th - 7th.
