Samitar Winning the G1 Garden City Stakes

39,000 GUINEAS OCTOBER 1 FILLY SAMITAR LANDS US GRADE 1

While the outstanding CAMELOT narrowly missed out on landing the first Triple Crown since NIJINSKY 42 years ago, SAMITAR provided another fine example of the outstanding quality and value for money which makes Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale the premier sale of its type in Europe, when winning the Grade 1 Garden City Stakes at Belmont Park.

Purchased by agent Gill Richardson for 39,000 guineas at the same sale that also produced Classic winners CAMELOT, WAS and POWER, SAMITAR took her career earnings past £500,000 in landing her second Group/Grade 1 win for owner Martin Schwartz for whom she also won the Irish 1000 Guineas when trained by Mick Channon.

By ROCK OF GIBRALTAR out of the RAINBOW QUEST mare AILEEN'S GIFT, SAMITAR was bred and sold by Norman Court Stud and her SIXTIES ICON half brother is lot 369 at Book 1 of the forthcoming Tattersalls October Yearling Sale where he will be consigned from Hillwood Stud.

Yet another 2012 Tattersalls Classic winner came in the Group 1 Irish St Leger where ROYAL DIAMOND landed his first Group 1 win for owner Andrew Tinkler and trainer Tommy Carmody. The son of KING'S BEST was purchased for 400,000 guineas by Michael Dods on behalf of Tinkler at the 2009 Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale. Tinkler's 100,000 guineas October 1 purchase URSA MAJOR had also stamped himself as a fast improving 3 year old finishing a creditable fourth in the St Leger.

The catalogue for Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, which features the only yearlings eligible for the Tattersalls Millions, is available online atwww.tattersalls.com or from Tattersalls and Tattersalls representatives.
